Ashtanga Workshop: To Infinity and Beyond!
Saturday, January 27th, 2:30 - 4:30pm, Lighthouse Yoga School, Williamsburg, Brooklyn
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali tells us that asana is perfected by the release of effort and by absorption into the infinite (2.47). This workshop will explore Patanjali’s cryptic sutra about yoga posture through the framework of the Primary and Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Yoga.
Using breath and bandha work we will increase effort in the present to release effort in the future. The workshop will view the Ashtanga system through the lens of a lifelong practice full of infinite possibilities in order to create a more informed approach, which serves both short and long term goals.
Using vinyasa krama – the art of step-by-step progression – the more difficult asanas and vinyasas will be broken down into more manageable pieces.
Attendees will leave with a more holistic view of Ashtanga and a toolset to dive deeper in their exploration of the practice. Expect to sweat. Expect to break boundaries. Expect to be sore the next day.
